The UN Association of Jyväskylä organizes a stand at the University of Jyväskylä (lobby of the library) from 10:00 to 14:00 with a game.
The UN Association of Tampere participates in the Peace Parade with a fire show starting at 17:00 at Tullintori. Starting from 17:30, there’s music and a guest speaker Mr. Jyrki Käkönen at Keskustori. Additionally, the candidates of the municipal election speak about human rights. The UN Association of Turku is hosting a stand at the University of Turku, focused on the topic of sustainable energy according to the theme year of the UN. A movie night related to environmental and development issues will be organized with the movie “The 11th hour”. In Helsinki, the UN Association of Finland organizes an event at Paasinkivenaukio.
In front of the university cafeterias in Berlin and Mannheim, there will be stands asking what you think about the United Nations and what you would improve. Come and write your thoughts on a banner! In addition to Berlin and Mannheim, “Freedom of the Press” and “Refugees” themed postcards will be distributed by the local branches in Munich, Westerland, Münster, Bonn, Frankfurt (Main), Oldenburg, Neuendettelsau, Greifswald and Freiburg.
UNYA Poland organizes a Security Council simulation and a debate concerning the role of the UN today and the new non-permanent Security Council members at the university of Warsaw. In Danzig, a campaign about environmental issues and green energy will be visible in vital points of the city.
UNA Slovenia and the Youth Section organize a celebration at the University of Ljubljana (Kongresni trg 12) with the guest speaker Prof. Dr. Ernest Petrič, Head of the Constitutional court of Slovenia and the first representative of Slovenia to the UN. Conference on the challenges faced by the UN is organized by UNYA Switzerland at the Palais des Nations in Geneva. A decade has passed since Switzerland’s accession to the United Nations, and the participants in the conference will have the opportunity to find out about various aspects of Switzerland’s UN membership over the last ten years. There are six different thematic squares the participants can attend. The topics are: Minorities, Security Council Reform, Disarmament, Human Rights, Environment, Peacebuilding.
