UNYA Romania – BISMUN 2013

News_BISMUN_LogoThe Bucharest International Student Model United Nations 2013 Conference will take place at the Palace of Parliament, in Bucharest, Romania, from 20 to 25 March 2013 bringing together approximately 230 participants both from Romania and abroad. The theme of the conference will be “Reshaping diplomacy in a world of continuous change” chosen because of the importance of diplomacy in the social, economic and political development of the 21st century.

The committees simulated are:

  • Security Council
  • Human Rights Council
  • ECOSOC
  • 1st Committee of the GA (DISEC)
  • 4th Committee of the GA (SPECPOL)
  • 6th Committee of the GA (Legal Committee)
  • Historical Committee
  • General Assembly of the United Nations (Opening and Closing Ceremony)

The main objectives of the BISMUN 2013 Conference are to foster participatory democracy among young people, raise awareness of the role of the UN, inform young people about the UN’s decision-making mechanisms, promote multiculturalism and combat discrimination, develop solidarity, and encourage mutual understanding between young people from different countries.

Ms. Honna Marttila is the PR Officer of UNYANET 2012-2013 and a former President of UNYA Finland. She was a trainee at the Finnish Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva during the spring 2013.
