The first simulation of Model United Nations Slovenia Club (MUNSC) was held from 14 February 2013 on, on the topic of Nuclear Disarmament in the Middle East and Asia. In addition to the members of MUNSC, students from the Faculty of Law were invited. These students study the work of United Nations with their mentor Dr. Vasilka Sancin. 28 delegates and 2 Chairpersons of the Security Council participated in the simulation.
Members of the MUNSC prepared and executed a simulation for the first time, and it was finalized with the adoption of a resolution on Saturday afternoon. MUNSC wishes to present such international simulations to students and encourage them to attend other simulations too. The first MUNSC delegation will attend International Model United Nations in Belgrade (BIMUN) this year while some members will individually participate in several other simulations of UN bodies, NATO and the European Union.
Members of MUNSC meet twice a month for a small simulation and choose the agenda according to their interests. Doing so, they consolidate their knowledge about the United Nations and the activities of the international community, obtain rhetoric, diplomatic and negotiation skills and above all – have fun.
With the start of a new semester at the faculty, MUNSC will continue with regular meetings and another bigger simulation is expected to take place in June 2013. Anyone can join.
