UN Association of Finland together with its partners proposes a resolution on Youth, Peace and Security to be adopted by the UN Security Council. The aim of the initiative and the possible resolution would be to increase the involvement of the youth in all decision-making and social change worldwide. UNA Slovenia celebrated the anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the World Cultural and Natural Heritage and published a publication in collaboration with the Slovenian National Commission of UNESCO.
40 years have passed since the adoption of the Convention on the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on 16 November 1972. United Nations Association of Slovenia celebrated the anniversary in collaboration with the Slovenian National Commission of UNESCO. Together they published a publication “Human rights perspective to cultural and natural heritage: Role of UNESCO” released in December 2012.
The UN Youth and Students’ Days, organized by UNA Finland and UNYA Finland, took place in Helsinki, Finland, on 9-10 November 2012. On the second day, the participants worked on different topics in small groups, and the ”Youth, Peace and Security” working group was lead by UNYA Finland. The questions discussed in this group included the role of youth as peace creators, and the problematique behind the dichotomy of youth as a target group vs. youth as actors.
The UN Youth Association of Romania is proud to present “UN Youth Moot Courts 2012 – Justice on international level!”, a project of which the main focus is the simulation of juridical procedure in front of four main courts: International Court of Justice, The European Court of Human Rights, The Court of Justice of the European Union and The International Criminal Court. This event, which will take place on December 7-9 2012 at the Bucharest Court of Appeal, represents one of the most important activities enrolled by the association and has the objective of giving the participants the chance of putting in practice their knowledge of international law, EU law and human rights law.
It is very important to provide the youth with the opportunity to express their opinions on and suggest solutions to global issues. Model UN is one of the key global projects that allow minors to learn more about international relations and world politics, and additionally, to let their voices to be heard.
On November 1-3, the IV Tyumen International Model UN for High-School Students will be held in the center of Siberia and will gather 150 young people from different Russian cities. The main topics are the same as those currently discussed in the UN Headquarters: the situation in Syria (Russian-speaking Security Council), China-Japan Relations (English-speaking Security Council), and Language Diversity (UNESCO, Russian and English languages). The Futuristic Security Council will challenge the armed conflict between Israel and Iran in December 2012. The delegates have to work in crisis conditions, and the world community will expect the Security Council to resolve the conflict as soon as possible.

The workshop is planned to be held 5-8 July in Helsinki, Finland. It aims to offer each UNYANET member organization a basic set of public relations skills in order to create visible and strong UNYAs capable of promoting themselves, UNYANET and the UN. The program includes lectures held by PR experts, as well as interactive workshops, best-practice-sharing and individual trainings.
