UNYANET LogoUNYANET adds a fifth project in its activities by launching a blog at the International Press Freedom Day 3 May 2013.  The blog supports the freedom of expression and the inclusion of the youth by offering a global channel of communication from the youth to decision-makers and a tool for perfecting the youth’s ideas about world politics through interaction. UNYANET invites everybody to participate in the exchange of views and especially the UN agencies and international leaders to follow the discussions.

UNDPI-MUN Workshop in Vienna: Registration is Open

MUN_Logo_2012We are glad that we can announce that registration for the Model UN (MUN) Workshop in Vienna, July 8-11, 2013, has finally started!

The workshop targets at MUN-Societys, MUN-Organizers, faculties and anyone else, holding a MUN Conference within the upcoming year. It will provide expertise by senior UN-Staff, about the respective councils, committees and UN-Bodies, such as the Security Council, the Human Rights Council and as well Vienna based Organizations such as the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

UNYANET Board Meeting in Geneva: 11 May to 13 May 2013

UNYANET Logo, colors UNYANET is organizing a Board Meeting in Geneva. It will take place from Saturday 11 May to Monday 13 May.

On Saturday and Sunday, the participants will discuss and work on several topics like the upcoming General Assembly of UNYANET, the Public Relations of the network and the IT infrastructure and its capabilities as well as “do all the stuff that is more fun to do while having a coffee with friends.”

On Monday, the participants will meet with United Nations entities and, if possible, other representatives of international organisations and assocations present in Geneva to discuss the development of the network and how the collaboration opportunities can be increased.

The participation at this event is open for every member of the network who is interested in contributing to and working on the next development steps. If you are interested, just send us an email.

Engaging Youth in the United Nations

At the Vienna UN Conference 2013 of the Academic Council on the United Nations System (ACUNS) a panel on youth was held on January 10. The speakes at this panel were:

• Billy BATWARE, President, Regional Academy on United Nations

UNDPI launches UN Calendar App for 2013

UN Calendar AppAs we approach 2013, we wanted to share with you a new App launched by UNDPI earlier this month which we hope you will find useful. This electronic version of the print “United Nations Making a Difference 2013” educational calendar is a handy tool that not only uses international days to showcase what the UN does through photos, videos and web links, but also features what the UN does in peace and security, economic development, social development, human rights, environment, international law, humanitarian affairs, health etc.

UNYANET@Izmir

Due the amazing success of Michael’s live coverage of the UNDPI MUN Workshop last week, we decided to continue with this kind of news coverage for the UNYANET Youth Projects and Cooperation Seminar as well as for the General Assembly 2012 in Izmir. The established “live” coverage will be made by our participants. They will regularly post news and pictures of the event. We are always looking for members who want to share their impressions of ongoing events like Model United Nations, workshops, seminars, penal discussions etc. If you are attending such an event, let us know be sending us an mail.

YPCS 2012: Online Participation Opportunity

This year, we will to extend the online participation opportunities for the Youth Projects and Cooperation Seminar as well as for the General Assemlby 2012 in Izmir, Turkey: One using our online meeting platform, another one just for the projects developed at the seminar after the General Assembly. In both cases, participation is only possible for member associations or for those who have registered using the registration that can be found below.

UNYANET@tumblr

A few days ago, UNYANET created a tumblr blog. We will use it to share the experience and impression of our members if the various events, seminar, workshop, MUNs etc. they are attending. While an overview can be found at the general UNYANET tumblr page (http://unyanet.tumblr.com/), a separate blog will be created for each event.
