The 13th Tyumen Model UN (www.tmun.utmn.ru) is over!
Over the past three days (March 27 – 29, 2015), a huge work in five UN bodies speaking three different languages had been done. As a result, all of them adopted worthy resolutions concerning the following agendas:
– Security Council (eng): Islamic State as a Threat to the World Community, – Security Council (rus): The role and responsibility of the UN Security Council in the prevention of genocide – Future Security Council (eng): Crisis in Spain: Escalation of Armed Conflict, – Sicherheitsrat: Einsatz privater Militärfirmen durch die UN, – Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (rus): Global Agreement on Climate Change for the post‐Kyoto period.
TMUN (March 27 – 29, 2015) gathered participants from 12 Russian cities such as Yekaterinburg, Moscow, Barnaul etc. and four continents represented by five countries: USA, France, Germany, Ghana and Bangladesh.
Such a large number of participants from different countries and cities leaded the organizing team to an idea of running a new project named ‘MUN Fair’. TMUN delegates had an opportunity not only to present their projects, but also to share the atmosphere of their cities with everyone.
Moreover, for the first time in Tyumen Model UN history, a crisis working group was created and involved all the Security Council members. The idea was to unite the delegates representing the same countries so that they could find a common solution to the proposed vulnerable issue. Delegates were to act decisively in case of emergency.
At the end the best, the most constructive and active delegates got their awards and the TMUN participants came back to their home cities being motivated to realize their global proposals one day. While Tyumen Model UN steering team is waiting for the next conference in October.
