The Youth Section of United Nations Association of Slovenia (UNAS) was established in 2011 and hosted the UNYANET General Assembly in 2012. Its purpose is to raise awareness about the United Nations and its work among younger generations conducting numerous activities throughout the year 2017.
Jazz Night for intercultural dialogue and international youth cooperation
The importance of jazz has been recognized and celebrated by UNAS since 2011. It is perceived as more than music alone – it was acknowledged as a way of bringing communities together, as a manner of communication that goes beyond conflict, and as a mean of intercultural dialogue, mutual understanding and international cooperation. Members of Youth Section organized an event called Jazz Night that took place on 5 May in Ljubljana in which jazz was presented by some of the greatest Slovenian musicians in a form of a concert.

The second installment of MUNSC Salient, organized by the United Nations Association of Slovenia, successfully concluded on July 15th. The conference was held under the honorary patronage of Mr Borut Pahor, the President of Slovenia.
The conference took place between July 11 and 15, 2016 at the Faculty of Social Sciences. Fundamentally a youth conference, the aim of MUNSC Salient is to supplement the traditional Model United Nations (MUN) experience with educational content in form of interactive lectures, roundtables and workshops. The 70 participants of the conference hailed from Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Indonesia, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Sweden and Turkey. International youth conference MUNSC Salient, organized by UNA Slovenia, was successfully concluded. The conference was held under honorary patronage of Dr Milan Brglez, president of the Slovenian National Assembly.
MUNSC Salient was organized between 13 and 17 July 2015 at the Faculty of Social Sciences in cooperation with Academic Forum for Foreign Affairs Graz and Brussels Model European Union. It is a youth conference that supplements the traditional Model United Nations (MUN) experience with educational content in form of interactive lectures, roundtables, workshops and group exercises. The conference was attended by 70 participants from Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cameroon, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia. Main theme of the conference was global refugee crisis and all three committees witnessed heated discussions. UN Security Council discussed refugee crisis and sectarian violence in Lebanon, UN General Assembly Third Committee (Social and Humanitarian Committee – SOCHUM) discussed reversing the current trend in refugee and IDP protection in Syria, and the European Council tackled revitalising European solidarity in the light of increased influx of refugees into the EU.
