From nuclear energy to political crises and environmental sustainability, from Accra to Yaoundé and from strategic planning to awareness raising events, the United Nations Information Service in Vienna (UNIS) is part of a global network of United Nations Information Centres. It informs the public about the UN’s work, engaging local authorities, civil society organizations, universities, students and UN visitors in its activities. It also acts as secretariat to the United Nations Communications Group (UNCG) in Vienna and promotes the UN goals by reaching out to the media, government entities, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), academia and the private sector.
From 19 to 23 August 2013 twenty-one representatives of eight United Nations Youth Associations and UNA Youth Sections met in Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana under the motto “By the youth, for the youth!”. Their aim was to decide on future projects of the United Nations Youth Associations Network, to revise its efforts of the last year and to strengthen capacities of Youth Organizations.
Benefitting from the opportunity offered by the location of the UNYNAET Summit 2013, the representatives of the Finnish UN youth visited the Finnish embassy in Ljubljana. This September volunteers of UNA Slovenia Youth Section participated at the 12th LUPA bazaar (bazaar of Slovenian NGOs), which has taken place at Prešeren square in Ljubljana. LUPA 2013 festival was promoting the role and importance of more than 150 Slovenian NGOs. Continue reading

In August 2013, representatives of United Nations Youth Associations Network (UNYANET) member organizations met in Ljubljana on third annual meeting. During the UNYANET Summit, General Assembly and capacity building workshops were held.
President Pahor: “Youth are the most powerful driving force of social and economic development in the world”
UNYANET Summit 2013 in Ljubljana was held under honorary patronage of the President of the Republic of Slovenia Mr. Borut Pahor, and during the Summit, the participants had the honor of meeting the Slovenian President (20 August 2013). In the debate, the President openly expressed his views on current international issues, consequences of the global crisis, future of the European Union and on the role of the United Nations in the world.
UNYANET is pleased to announce a new format for its annual meeting by UNYANET Summit 2013 including a Capacity Building Seminar and the third UNYANET General Assembly in Ljubljana, Slovenia, 19-23 August 2013.

UNYANET Summit 2013 will take place 19-23 August 2013 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and all members and observers are encouraged to attend. The program will include a national capacity building seminar in form of workshops and interactive project development and the UNYANET General Assembly on the last day, 23 August.
